Welcome to The DC Improv Comedy Club & Restaurant, the nation's No. 1 venue for all your comedy needs. We feature national touring headliners and local celebrities in two showrooms, while also serving as a full restaurant, a bar and a comedy school. The DC Improv launched in 1992, showcasing newcomers Ellen DeGeneres, Dave Chappelle and Brian Regan. Today, we continue to house the best talent in the business. We'll see you at the show!Founded by comic mastermind Bud Friedman, The Improv first opened in New York City in 1963. Originally built as a venue for aspiring comedians to practice their craft before both the public and the industry, the Improv soon became the hot spot for live stand-up comedy. The best in the field began at the Improv, including:Robin Williams, David Letterman, Richard Pryor, Jerry Seinfeld, Jay Leno and Andy Kaufman.
