In September of 2010, lifelong friends Joey Treadway and Chris Cusack began discussing ideas that eventually became Down House. There were a few ideas that were clear even from the very beginning: The idea that whatever we did, we would do it to the best of our abilities. That we would never accept the status quo as the only option. That we would use our business as a way of bringing positivity to our community.The idea of challenging the status quo manifested itself early with a few questions: Who says that restaurants have to have bad coffee? Who says that bars have to have bad food? Who says that coffee shops can’t have great food or alcohol? It would be the mission of DH to serve professionally executed specialty coffee, a chef-driven menu, and a quality focused craft bar.
