Maydee Distefano, Owner, is new to the business of bar owning. She is also new to Austin! Up until this September, she had a successful career as the Founding Artistic Director of Brat Productions and has been awarded several local and inter-national awards in multiple categories as an artist. She has a one-person show, Popsicle’s Departure, 1989, about the hard-core scene in Boston in the late 80’s which she still occasionally performs. Maydee also hosted an actor’s lounge, bar, and late-night club called Quig’s Pub on the third floor of Plays and Players in Philly. Her daughter, Frances, goes to college in Pennsylvania; and Dozen’s puppy, Darlene Love, is the newest joy in her life. She is happy to be living near her sister, Stefanie for the first time in 2 decades. Mathias Bable, Bar Manager, is a fantastic bartender and moved to Philadelphia for the opportunity of managing Dozen Street. Little did he know how much work it would be, but he thrives on living the easy life… the hard way! Maydee asked him to be the manager at Dozen Street because he is incredibly smart, hard-working, and charming behind the bar. Mathias was a baseball pitcher at Hill College- and is happy to return to the Austin area. He has a seemingly infinite wealth of knowledge that reveals the old soul beneath his boyish good looks. He shares the responsibility of the Dozen dog Darlene.
