Born and raised in mainland China, Dr. Guangping Li (pronounced Lee) graduated after 5 years of acupuncture school at the top of her class. Her practice has spanned over 40 years.
What is acupuncture?
The originator of acupuncture theorized that the body had an energy force running through it. This energy force is known as Qi (pronounced chee). The Qi consists of all essential life activities which include the spirtual, emotional, mental and the physical aspects of life. A persons' health is influenced by the flow of Qi in the body. The Qi flows along pathways through the body called meridians. Meridians travel vertically up and down through every part of the body. The acupuncture points are specific locations where the meridians come to the surface of the skin and are accessible. These points are not just myths, but have been proven to exist. By manipulating the points, proper flow of energy along the meridians can be restored and healing can begin.
Does it hurt?
Depending on the acupuncture point you could feel some mild cramping, heaviness or electrical sensation. Usually this sensation is short and mild.
Are the needles clean?
The needles used today and in our office are all individually wrapped and disposable. They are used one time and discarded.
Dr. Li has extensively studied the art of acupuncture and now lives in Montgomery.
