You've heard of 'Mom & Pop' shops, right? Well, this is a 'Mom & Son' shop. :)
Irie Treats was established in 2013 by Ava Myers Robson, out of the need to supplement her family's household income, and teach her son about entrepreneurship and financial peace. Inspired by her son's disappointment in the lack of flavorful foods whenever they were away from home, Ava decided to share her love for authentic flavor with the Cedar Valley.
Having started as a food vendor at local events, this bootstrap project has grown steadily over the years, with the addition of a catering service as well as a giveback program to help non-profit groups and organizations raise funds.
While their personal schedule prevents them from opening up a brick & mortar location, they have a vision to someday own a food truck they'll open in a Crossroads parking lot during the summer, with tables and benches shaded by huge umbrellas, as you relax and enjoy tropical treats with family and friends. Until then, you'll find them at select UNI Dome events, festivals, school events, and the occasional private party.
"We are soooo grateful for those who support our stand whenever they see us, and it just melts our hearts when people go out of their way to come back to the booth and tell us how much they enjoyed our products. It never gets old, and in fact, encourages us to persist when times are hard and we're struggling to stay above ground. Thank you, Cedar Valley!" ~ Ava & Son
