The Missouri Job Center offers several free workshops that are available to the public. Here is an updated list of all workshops availble at the Missouri Job Center:
Basic Computer Skills / Keyboarding- Staffing: American Business and Technology University----
This workshop will cover the introduction to the computer, the basics of keyboarding, using the mouse, opening and closing software, creating and saving new documents, and folder management.
Career Exploration and Networking- Staffing: Laura
It's all about you! This workshop gives you the tools to assess your knowledge, skills, personal interests and priorities on the journey to finding the job that is best for you (or not a good fit). Identify resources that are available to find a rewarding career. Learn about meeting employer and workplace expectations, continuous learning on the job, and setting career goals. Practice positive communications and the process of adjusting to the workplace environment.
Interview Process- Staffing: Bridget
This workshop will discuss interviewing; the importance of preparation for interviews, questions to practice for interview, the power of body language, interview types, what to expect during the interview, and follow-up after the interview.
Microsoft Excel 2007- Part 1- Staffing: American Business and Technology University
This workshop will cover the interface of Excel, navigation, editing, copy-paste functions, creating a series, headers/footers, creating charts, functions and hyperlinking worksheets. This is a Basic Excel Computer class.
Microsoft 2007- Part 1- Staffing: American Business and Technology University
This workshop will cover the interface of Word 2007, and the formatting tools, inserting graphics and tables. Users will have hands-on activities to practice their skills.
Online Applications- Staffing: Art Schaaf
This workshop will cover aspects of completing an application online, as well as formatting your resume and attaching your resume to an online application. Rules of completing online applications, creating document to assist the process, and tips on how to make the process easier will be covered in the workshop.
Positive Attitude and Motivation- Staffing: Rotating Staff
This workshop will prepare future college students who will be receiving the WIOA Grant for the responsibilities and commitment of completing school. We will be covering time management skills, communication, and the importance of respect.
Resume Preparation- Staffing: Rotating Staff
Wonder what employers are looking for when they read a resume and cover letter? Find out in this workshop! Identify and optimize all the basic components of a resume (skills and abilities, work history, and education) so that you stand out above the others.
Work Keys Assessment- Staffing: Rotating Staff
This consists of 3 tests: Locating Information, Reading for Information, and Math. Each test may take up to 55 minutes. Customers may take a break between tests.
