UNIVERSITY SINGERS, Dr. John Flanery
The University Singers is a select mixed chamber ensemble of approximately 24 auditioned voices specializing in a cappella repertoire from the sixteenth through twenty-first centuries. Members are mostly upper-level undergraduate students with strong sight-reading skills and vocal ability. The University Singers perform in multiple concerts and by invitation each year. In addition, the choir engages in a series of annual choir mini-tours. This ensemble has toured to places like Lincoln Center in New York City, the National Cathedral in Washington, DC and has toured internationally to Spain, Germany, Austria, London and Scotland and Italy. This choir has also performed for three Southwestern American Choral Directors Association Regional Conventions. Scholarships are available for members of this choir.
MASTERWORKS CHORUS, Dr. John Flanery
Masterworks Chorus features a passionate combination of campus and community singers coming together to perform an exciting repertoire consisting primarily of major choral works and shorter extended works with and without orchestra. The choir's repertoire has included works such as Haydn's Creation, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony, Stravinsky's Symphony of Psalms, Mozart's Requiem, Orff's Carmina Burana, Brahm's Requiem and Bach's Mass in B Minor. Most recently they have performed Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms and Rutter’s Mass of the Children.
CONCERT CHOIR, Ms. Christa Fredrickson
Concert Choir is a non-audition choir is open to all women as a 1 credit course. Singers in the Concert Choir come from a wide variety of backgrounds, and major in an extremely varied mix of academic areas both in and out of the music department. Their passion for choral singing and love of fine choral literature brings them together and motivates their learning. This choir performs in both fall and spring semesters.
