Welcome to Project REAL. My name is Ceara, and I am the founder of the project. I started this on a whim of anger, and after creating the first event I posted this paragraph:
"I am tired of hearing what a real man is, or a real woman. I am absolutely exhausted with the social redefinition of what is expected. I want to publish photos of what REAL bodies look like. All of the scars. All of the stretch marks, all of the bones and curves. We spend too much time being held up to a standard that isn't even standard. I want to show what REAL people look like."
From there this project became something even more, that I did not expect. It has become a small community of support to all walks of life, all issues, all stories. From being made fun of for being small, or big, to being told what a real father is, what a real man is, being made fun of for being annoying, or made to feel like you are not a person.
These photos are quick. Come to an event! You can wear or not wear whatever you feel comfortable in. The photos can be made anonymous if you feel the need, as in I will allow you to hide your face. The ONLY editing that will be done to these photos will be color correction, acne removal if requested, and identifying tattoo removal if requested. I want these photos to be raw and real and show how perfect each and every one of you is. I will be posting these to a site. I have set myself a goal of 1,000 REAL bodies in their perfection. I want to fight the stigma with the overwhelming reality that we are all different and scarred and beautiful.
These events will be open. Anyone can come model. Anyone can come be involved. I will make specific dates that are open, but if you are unable to make it, please message me and I will work with you to get you on the site.
I ask that you to come prepared with something that you've read or heard, or even had said to you that made you feel illegitimate to how you gender identify. It will be either written on your skin, or placed on a sign for you to hold, your choice.
