Everyday on radio, television, internet and the newspaper you see and hear about animal cruelty taking place. Sometimes it seems so hopeless but to make a difference is to get involved...And now is my time to make a difference. I have always been surrounded by different animals as for back as I can remember. My parents instilled a great love and respect for animals in me. I was born on a dairy farm in Dunlap Tennessee, where I am told the kitten with us at that time slept with me in my crib and then I moved on to be raised up with all breeds of animals around me during my youth on a farm in Lafayette Georgia. To me it was second nature to Love and appreciate animals. Maybe it was Karma and the worldly sprits or just getting introduced so young that my heart got touched, whichever now I am here to help. My Mother used to say Tammy Kay you cant save the world...maybe not but I can damn sure save a few along the way and maybe make a mark to be remembered also. All endeavors or life long dreams start with an event. Peoples lives can change drastically in a second. All you know to exist abruptly stops and changes, you have to dig deep within your heart and soul to find what will heal you. The starting of this safe haven for animals of all kinds is for my son and my continued therapy of sorts. Due to a tragic accident in 2009 I lost my son of 17 years, that kid had such a love for all creatures...his big heart was always trying to save something. After some great consideration and family support I have started this organization in memory of my son...something for him and others to come. This house has always been filled with animals of all kinds...my life centers around providing for their needs and helping them along until they are ready to leave this world. I have seen so many people who think animals are things you can discard and that just breaks my heart, others learn the joy of animal bonding and love and they all grow old together. This is by no means easy, I work daylight to dark...but to me its making a stand for poor abandoned animals who never asked to be born in the first place or tossed out when someone had you in a house for years and then decided the responsibility was just not what they wanted anymore...just take a walk down they halls of your local kill shelter, see how many owner surrenders they have. Its a damn good thing we cant do with people what we are allowed to do with loyal animals. And I agree situations arise where animals have to be placed elsewhere but unfortunately the one time I had first hand knowledge of a downsizing of a herd so to speak was purely for the person who got into other enjoyments and no longer wanted to care for the animals...older animals and of no fault to the kill shelter who only has so much room, they were put down...It still hurts me to think its that easy to undo an animals life.. it still makes me sick to my stomach...Please just spay and neuter...it saves so much unnecessary suffering....I agree with my Mother, I know I cant save all of them but I also know that me and others believe that animals deserve the best we can give them...just maybe the ones that come across the path of Stevies Haven will offset some that didn't make it. I have helped whenever I could and hopefully in the future will continue to rescue, heal and find loving forever homes for other animals. We are not very big...but saving one can add years of enjoyment and love to a families life plus the ones in this Haven are always giving out nose snuggles and licks galore, so I can safely say the love and care runs around the clock here. This is a house were some animals live out their lives with us, others we get off to a great start and work diligently on finding them forever homes. This is my dream in life to help animals...And I will continue to do so as long as I am able....I would have to think that the cat or dog we saved or the countless others we have helped add goodness somewhere in the world. I hear caring is contagious and spreading would be a good thing. This cause is definitely a labor of love. But all the hard work is worth more than money in the bank. This is to help animals and to give something back to the world for my time with my son, however brief that may have been. His spirit will carry on with the healing and love of the animals we help. Make a difference today help me help the animals. Remember animals provide unbiased love and appreciation. They don't care how much you make or what you wear, they just LOVE!
