The Washburn University Athletic Training Educational Program (ATEP) is designed to provide students with theory and practice in the Athletic Training profession. It prepares them to enter a variety of employment settings related to athletic training and to render care to a wide spectrum of individuals engaged in physical activity. The ATEP provides quality instruction and clinical education in Athletic Training and supports the discipline of sports medicine through education, scholarly activity and service in the areas of prevention, clinical evaluation and diagnosis, immediate care, treatment, rehabilitation and reconditioning of injury, organization, administration and professional responsibility. The ATEP is CAATE accredited, meaning students are eligible for the BOC exam upon graduation. Additionally, the ATEP can prepare students for graduate level study in a variety of health related fields including physical therapy and physician assistant programs.
