Located on Berkeley’s 4th Street, the renewed center of casual elegance, Zut! on Fourth offers New American cuisine crafted from seasonal, organic ingredients. Executive Chef Jim Wimborough hand selects Zut!’s produce, meat, fish and poultry exclusively from local sustainable farms. Signature dishes include fresh Monterey squid stuffed with savory chorizo, crispy Brussels sprouts with bacon, sautéed mussels served in a tomato based crème fraiche sauce, and a Meze platter with house-made pita. Zut! offers succulent, flavorful rotisserie meats roasted daily in-house and hand tossed seasonally inspired artisan pizzas. Zut! is proud to offer a wide variety of vegan and vegetarian-friendly appetizers and mains.
In keeping with the locally supported restoration of Fourth Street, Zut!’s rustic Mediterranean-inspired décor is a balance between modern creativity and recycled functionality. Wooden beams salvaged from Treasure Island barracks provide structure for the open, colorful interior which features the handiwork of numerous local craftsmen and artists. The custom designed signature chandeliers, life size panoramic cafe-scene mural, acaia table tops, and zinc-topped bar with illuminated cast glass back bar offer uniquely separate dining atmospheres within the common theme.
The Zut! Bar offers diverse specialty hand-crafted cocktails, pre-prohibition classic cocktails, and an extensive spirits menu including a wide selection of aperitifs, amari, and digestifs. The wine list specializes in Californian and European small grower/producer wines with an emphasis on sustainable, organic, and biodynamic wine practices. Zut! also supports local winemakers on tap, including Donkey and Goat, and Stomping Girl.
