The Baldwin Photographic Gallery provides access to inspiring photographic works for students and faculty of Middle Tennessee State University as well as the general public. The Baldwin Photographic Gallery has a long tradition of exhibiting photographic works of national and international stature, and brings exhibiting artists to MTSU to conduct workshops and lectures.
The gallery was founded in 1968 by Professor Harold Baldwin. He served as curator of the gallery and Professor of Photography until his retirement in 1991. The gallery was formally named for Mr. Baldwin in 1996. Mr. Baldwin made a large gift in 2013 to build a new gallery space opening January 27, 2014.
Professor Baldwin also established a permanent gallery collection of prints of exhibiting artists. The Baldwin Collection includes the works of notable artists such as Ansel Adams, Minor White, and Jerry Uelsmann.
Professor of Photography, Tom Jimison has served as curator of the gallery and the collection since 1991.
