Over the past 188 years, Bösendorfer has witnessed many changes. Yet the ardent dedication to handcrafting the world’s most vibrant pianos has - without comparison - been the manifesto of the traditional Austrian manufacturer. Selecting the utmost precious materials and cultivating handcraftsmanship passed on by generations are the central basis of what will later be magically revealed: The famous Viennese sound.
We are passionate about manufacturing grand pianos ultimately sharing a unique experience of sound, touch and emotion. Playing a Bösendorfer is not just playing any piano but travelling in time conversing with Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Liszt, Ravel, Bruckner, Mahler, Busoni, Webern, Schoenberg, Bartok … .
Our piano grands will unveil the fine nuances of the music you play – key by key, yet unseen and unheard.
The ethos goes right back to 1828 and the very beginnings of the company. Our founder Ignaz Bösendorfer was convinced that a piano should not only satisfy on a mechanical level but inspire artists as well as the audience. He felt that it should be built to the highest standards and be exhilarating to listen to. Music - without any doubt - is one of the few languages that do not rely on any translation. Immediately understood by the human soul it captivates moments of unity. It is an honour to dedicate to this very human element of life.
All Bösendorfer instruments are manufactured 100% in Austria and combine three important elements: Uncompromising, traditional handcrafting, beauty and the Viennese soul. There is no standard Bösendorfer and the moment you will meet yours, you will recognise your Bösendorfer is and always be one thing: unique.
